How long will my dress take to arrive?
Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days. Delivery to the United States then takes 5 to 8 business days on average. It is an average, so some orders take a little longer, especially in busy seasons. Planning for an event? Order at least 3 weeks ahead.
What does shipping cost?
Shipping is free on every order of $120 or more. Below $120, standard tracked shipping is $4.99. Details in our Shipping Policy.
Can I send it back?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to request a return, as long as the dress is unworn, unwashed and still has its tags. Email us first, we send you the return address. See our Refund Policy.
How do I choose my size?
Every product page has a size chart with the bust, waist, hip and shoulder measurements. Measure yourself and compare with the chart, not with your usual size. A qipao is a fitted dress and most fabrics have little stretch, so if you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.
Is a qipao the same as a cheongsam?
Yes. Qipao is the Mandarin name and cheongsam comes from Cantonese, but both describe the same fitted dress with a mandarin collar and side slits. We explain the history in our Journal: Qipao vs cheongsam.
Orders & payment
How do I place an order?
Choose your dress, select your size and add it to your cart. At checkout, enter your shipping address and pay. You receive an order confirmation email right after.
What payment methods do you accept?
The payment methods available are shown at checkout and at the bottom of every page. All payments go through the secure Shopify checkout.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Shopify and its payment partners over an encrypted connection. We never see or store your full card details.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Orders are processed quickly. If you made a mistake, email support@maisonhua.com right away with your order number; once the order has been processed, it can no longer be changed or cancelled.
I did not get an order confirmation email.
Check your spam or promotions folder first. If it is not there, email support@maisonhua.com with the name and email address used at checkout and we will confirm your order.
Will I be charged tax or duties?
Any taxes that apply are shown at checkout before you pay. If you have a question about your order total, write to support@maisonhua.com before ordering.
Shipping & delivery
How long does delivery take?
Orders are prepared and shipped within 1 to 3 business days. Delivery to the United States takes 5 to 8 business days on average after shipping. Some orders take a little longer, especially around holidays.
How much is shipping?
Free on orders of $120 or more. Standard tracked shipping is $4.99 for orders under $120.
How do I track my order?
As soon as your dress ships, you receive an email with a tracking link. You can also see your orders under Track my order.
I ordered several dresses but only one arrived.
When you order several items, they can ship in separate parcels and arrive on different days. Each parcel has its own tracking number.
My package is late or seems lost.
If your tracking has not updated for 5 business days, or if your parcel seems lost, email support@maisonhua.com with your order number. We open an investigation with the carrier and offer a replacement or a refund based on the result.
I entered the wrong address.
Email us immediately with the correct address. We will do our best to update it before the order ships. Once shipped, we cannot redirect the parcel.
Is my dress ready in time for my event?
Count 1 to 3 business days of preparation plus 5 to 8 business days of delivery on average. For a wedding, a tea ceremony, Lunar New Year or prom, we recommend ordering at least 3 weeks before the date.
Returns & refunds
What is your return policy?
You can request a return within 14 days of delivery. The dress must be unworn, unwashed, unaltered, with its tags and in its original packaging. Full details in our Refund Policy.
How do I start a return?
Email support@maisonhua.com with your order number and the item you want to return. If the return is accepted, we send you the return address and instructions. Parcels sent back without our agreement cannot be accepted.
Who pays for return shipping?
Return shipping is paid by the customer, except when the dress is defective, damaged or not the one you ordered. We recommend a tracked service.
When will I get my refund?
Once your return is received and checked, approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 3 business days. Your bank may need a few extra days to show it.
Can I exchange for another size?
The fastest way is to return the dress following the steps above and place a new order in the size you need.
My dress arrived damaged or is not the one I ordered.
We are sorry. Email support@maisonhua.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a clear photo. We send a replacement or refund you within 3 to 7 business days after reviewing your request.
Size & fit
How do I take my measurements?
Use a soft tape measure and wear light clothing. Bust: around the fullest part of your chest. Waist: around the narrowest part. Hip: around the fullest part of your hips. Shoulder: from one shoulder point to the other, across your back.
Are the sizes US sizes?
Yes, sizes are listed in US sizes. The size chart on each product page gives the measurements in centimeters (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Always trust the measurements over the size label.
I am between two sizes. Which one should I pick?
Choose the larger size. A qipao is cut close to the body and most fabrics have little or no stretch.
Do all qipao fit the same?
No. Each style has its own cut, length and fabric, so check the size chart of the dress you want, even if you already own one of our dresses.

Fabric & care
What fabric is my dress made of?
Each product page describes the fabric of that dress in the Details & fabric section. The collection includes, among others, velvet and cotton styles.
How do I wash my qipao?
Always follow the care label first. As a general rule, hand wash in cold water or choose dry cleaning for satin, velvet and embroidered dresses. Do not tumble dry.
How do I iron it?
Iron on low heat, inside out, or use a steamer. Place a thin cloth between the iron and satin or embroidery to protect the shine.
How should I store it?
Hang it on a padded hanger, away from direct sunlight, in a breathable garment bag. Close the frog buttons so the collar keeps its shape.
About the qipao
What is a qipao?
The qipao, also called cheongsam, is a fitted Chinese dress with a high mandarin collar, frog buttons and side slits. It took its modern shape in 1920s Shanghai. Browse all our qipao dresses.
When can I wear a qipao?

Why are so many qipao red?
In Chinese culture, red is the color of luck and joy. That is why brides and guests often choose it for weddings and Lunar New Year. Our red qipao collection gathers them.
Can I wear a qipao if I am not Chinese?
Yes. Worn with respect and appreciation for its history, a qipao is a beautiful choice for anyone. It is a lovely way to celebrate with friends, family or a partner.
